It isn’t so much about the journey…the beginning or the end, but the ride in between.  The ride is what really counts on any journey you make.  It doesn’t matter what you are trying to do, or accomplish, be it marketing, copywriting or building some other business.

If you happen to be a biker, you can probably relate.  If not, let’s take the ride together.  When you start out on a career, or try to build a business, you have a starting point and a finish point, just like on any journey.  Deciding on what you are going to do and how you’re going to do it, is like studying the road map to see which way to go.

You make take the fast road, the scenic route, or the road less traveled.  This is where the “ride” starts.  You need to make sure that you have everything you need for the trip, like your tools, in case you break down.  In a business venture, this means having identified the risks and made sure that you had Plan B ready.  This is your “tool kit”.

The “ride” is the learning experience.  Like learning how to write copy that sells or learning how to market a business, make money on the internet, or buy and sell real estate.  This venture into the world is an accumulation of sights, smells and feelings that determine your success or failure.  This learning process, this “ride”, is the stops and pauses that you make along the journey and the resulting experiences that you have in between.

Like all rides that I have been on, there were some better than others, but all were worthwhile.  All the rides made a difference in my life and in lives of others.  Even the rides that ended in failure of some kind or another, actually contributed to the experience of the ride itself.

I shouldn’t use the word “failure”, as there is no such thing.  Having a failure, is only finding some way NOT to do something.  Someone once said, “show me a man that has never failed, and I will show you a man that never tried.”  Life is a learning experience, so we are all on the “ride”.  So it’s not the destination we seek, or the way we decide to get there, but the experiences we have on the ride, along the way, that determines who and what we are.

Make the decision, get saddled up and get started on your own ride.  All the people that know me ask how I have done so many things in my life and I say, it’s because I got started.  Most people want to plan the trip and plan for so long that there isn’t enough time to finish the journey, let alone enjoy the ride.
