In the days of Columbus, Magellan and other great explorers, much of the earth,(which many believed to be flat), was uncharted territory.

Legend held that sea monsters and other scary and dangerous creatures lived in the unexplored waters.

As a result, map makers commonly placed the words “Beyond This Point There Be Dragons” on areas that were unknown. This warned the early explorers to avoid these areas at all costs. This kept the discovery of many wonders hidden for years.

Even though we now know that we will never fall off the edge of the world, we have marked our mental charts with the same “Beyond This Point” warnings. We experience similar fears and anxieties when we just think about stepping outside of our own comfort zone into “new waters”.

Those fears produce imaginary dragons such as fear of failure in something we have never tried. Fear of ridicule from peers if we do not succeed. The fear of finding the proper business and deciding how to get started. The greatest fear of all, the loss of that security you feel in your job.

Even though you may hate what you do, those dragons keep you imprisoned in the day to day grind that is necessary to produce your livelihood. That dreaded job becomes like an old badly worn easy chair. We fear that someday the arms will fall off but we have been sitting in it so long it just seems to offer some sort of security.

It wraps us in a false hope that someday some magic will occur which will change our lives before it becomes too late and we discover that our productive years are gone and we just never got around to fulfilling that dream of owning our own business. This is our comfort zone.

This is a terrible waste of a life. Especially now that the means of building your business are available. Through the magic of the internet all you need to do is apply yourself. Focus on your goals and find the right sources for information you need to began your journey.

A good tool to start with as an example is Google Adsense as a jumping off place. As with any worthwhile endeavor you will encounter a learning curve. Improperly used, like a badly used power tool, your project will fail. Properly used Google can produce a shop full of the latest power tools.

However there is no excuse for using the Google program improperly. There is so much good information available from those that have achieved success and have laid the groundwork and developed the necessary skills that to fail only means you have not applied yourself and made the time and effort to study what is available and put it to use.

Many successful entrepreneurs who derive great satisfaction from “giving something back” to others through sharing what they have learned to achieve amazing success are making their knowledge available with both free and paid programs. A quick search on any of the more popular search engines will produce plenty of good sources. Some time devoted to forums can produce much good first hand information.

Those waters are no longer uncharted. Those that have gone before you have produced a very detailed chart that is waiting for you to follow. All it takes is for you to get out of your comfort zone.

The choice is yours. Keep dreaming or set a course to building the dream of owning your own business. Conquer your personal dragons and you will soon realize that through the magic of the internet your chart will show this warning. “Beyond This Point There Be Success”.
